The police post established in Thinadhoo island of Vaavu atoll has been officially inaugurated.

The police post was established with the purpose of providing police services closer to the island community.

Acting Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner of Police Faruhaad Fikuree and Felidhe Atoll Council President Shujau Ali jointly inaugurated the island’s police post, during a ceremony held on Tuesday.

The inauguration ceremony was joined by Head of Local Policing Command Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed, executive police officers, North Central Police Commander Chief Superintendent of Police Fareed Ismail, Commander of Vaavu atoll Inspector of Police Anwar Ahmed, commissioned police officers, Thinadhoo Council President Shifaau Hussain as well as members of the island council.

As part of efforts to serve the people of the island closer, in a decentralized manner, the police services have been inaugurated in Thinadhoo, in collaboration with the people of the island.

The police institution has inaugurated two more police posts so far in December, including one in Nellaidhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll on December 9 and in Fulidhoo island in Vaavu Atoll on December 18.
