President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has marked the successful completion of the coastal protection project of Fulidhoo Island in Vaavu Atoll.

President Solih commemorated the completion of Fulidhoo coastal protection project on Monday, as part of his tour of Vaavu Atoll.

The coastal protection project on Fulidhoo Island, completed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Ltd. (MTCC), involved the installation of seawalls and groynes to protect the island's coastlines.

The aim of the project was to safeguard the island from the effects of climate change and rising sea levels.

The Maldivian leader departed on the three-day campaign tour on Saturday, as part of his campaign for re-election in the upcoming Presidential election. His tour of Meemu and Vaavu atolls concluded on Monday.

During the visits the president held discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and the issues they are currently facing.

In Vaavu atoll, President Solih visited Rakeedhoo, Keyodhoo, Felidhoo, Thinadhoo and Fulidhoo, where he held discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and requirements.

So far, the Maldivian leader has embarked on campaign tours across Shaviyani and most recently, Kaafu atoll.

The incumbent administration has made significant progress in ensuring parallel development of all inhabited islands across the nation, as well as efforts to improve the living standards of citizens and enabling them to live a dignified life.
