President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has unveiled the newly developed health center in Foakaidhoo island of Shaviyani atoll.

The developed health center was officially unveiled during a ceremony held in Foakaidhoo, on July 9, as part of President Solih’s recent brief tour of Shaviyani atoll to launch his re-election campaign.

Following the inauguration of the health center, President Solih toured the facility and examined the arrangements made for the provision of healthcare to the island’s community, at the center.

The Ministry of Health contracted the project to complete the unfinished extension building of the Foakaidhoo health center, back in November 2022.

The project was contracted to Perfect Malafehi Maldives Private Limited, to be completed within 145 days.

A total of MVR 4,239,267.91 was spent on the development project.

The health ministry revealed that the Solih administration has been making resilient efforts to improve the quality of healthcare provided in health centers across the island nation, as well as to expand services across the entire country.

As such, the ministry noted that work is underway to construct extension buildings to increase the space of health centers in many islands even now, as well as to develop health centers at hospital-level, in islands that are more populated.

As part of his recent visit to Foakaidhoo during his Shaviyani atoll campaign tour, the Maldivian leader inaugurated several more development projects initiated as part of his presidential pledges.

The development projects inaugurated on Sunday include the water and sewerage network, the island’s newly upgraded harbor as well as the expansion of the football ground.

The healthcare center expansion project was also unveiled and President Solih marked the completion of a solar panel installation project under the ongoing solar photovoltaic (PV) system project.

The Solih administration has made massive progress in its efforts to ensure equitable development across all inhabited islands including completing development projects that have enhanced the living standards of citizens and enabled them to live dignified lives.
