A massive amount of alcohol bottles under the custody of the police station in Dharavandhoo island of Baa atoll, have been destroyed.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the alcohol bottles were destroyed by the Dharavandhoo Police Station on June 14.

They are among the many paraphernalia brought into police custody in connection with different cases.

Destroyed on Wednesday were 527 bottles of alcohol and 297 cans of beer.

The destroyed alcohol and beer were confiscated by officers, from tourists who arrived at Dharavandhoo Domestic Airport for departure between 1 October 2022 and 31 May 2023.

The police institution revealed that the bottles were destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police team and committee, as well as under the set legal procedure for it.
