President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih conferred the Civil Society Awards to recipients during a ceremony held at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE) on Thursday evening.
Marking a significant milestone for the Maldives, the Civil Society Awards aim to encourage social empowerment, inspire proactive engagement by civil society and to raise awareness regarding social issues.
The awards, being conferred for the first time in Maldives, also recognize and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of civil society.
The Civil Society Award is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment and the first of its kind in the Maldives.
