The harbor channel project initiated in Kumundhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll, is nearing completion.

This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Monday.

As such, taking to Twitter to reveal the latest updates of the Kumundhoo harbor channel project to the public, MTCC revealed that the project has reached 62 percent progress overall.

The company revealed that the third shipment of rock boulders has been delivered to the project site.

Further, the work to prepare the breakwater bed has reached 54 percent completion.

Currently, the revetment construction is at 64 percent progress, according to MTCC.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct new harbor dredging operations in an area measuring 9,346 cubic meters and channel dredging operations in an area measuring 4,954 cubic meters.

The construction of a breakwater measuring 242 meters and a 198-meter revetment is also included under the scope of the project.

MTCC will also be installing navigational aids.

The Kumundhoo harbor channel project is valued at MVR 33.6 million.
