The Velana International Airport (VIA) will experience heavy traffic congestion over the weekend.
This was revealed by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) via Twitter on Thursday.
As such, the police institution revealed that heavy traffic congestion is expected on April 28 and 29 as several people who went to perform Umrah pilgrimage will be arriving at VIA over the weekend.
MPS revealed that police officers will be facilitating management for a smooth traffic flow and smooth experience for all travelers at VIA during the next two days.
With this, all travelers have been urged to plan ahead and follow instructions.
Further, travelers departing from VIA have also been urged to take the necessary precautions as they may experience some delays in the whole process.
MPS has assured the public that their teams stationed at VIA will do their utmost to minimize the inconvenience caused by the heavy traffic congestion.
The police institution also urged those who will be receiving their loved ones returning from Umrah pilgrimage to follow the instructions given by officers as they are there to assist the public and ensure a “hassle-free” experience for everyone.
The authority took the opportunity to express gratitude to the public for the cooperation.
