The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed that the shore protection project of Rathafandhoo island of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll is progressing well.
MTCC revealed that the first shipment of rock boulders required for the project has been delivered to the site.
The company states that beach filling operations are currently ongoing, with 87 percent completed.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to construct a revetment measuring 461 meters.
Further, a breakwater measuring 240 meters will also be constructed.
The project, contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, required beach filling operations of 6,600 cubic meters as well.
The value of the project is MVR 26.27 million.
MTCC mobilized the Shore Protection Project site on 07th August 2022.
