The project for coastal protection in Thulusdhoo island of Kaafu atoll, has been contracted.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the K. Thulusdhoo coastal protection project to marine and offshore construction company, Heavy Force Private Limited during a ceremony held on Monday.
The contract was signed by Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq on behalf of the planning ministry and Managing Director Ibrahim Zameer on behalf of Heavy Force Pvt Ltd.
The K. Thulusdhoo coastal protection project is valued at MVR 36,123,485.49.
Heavy Force is contracted to complete the project within the course of 120 days.
Under the scope of the project, the company will be constructing six breakwaters measuring 70 meters each, two groynes measuring 50-meters as well as a 170-meter revetment.
In addition to this, conservation of the island's coastline will continue in a bid to address the issue of coastal and soil erosion of Thulusdhoo island.
