The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has trained 72 youths under its apprenticeship program of 2022.
HDC's annual apprenticeship program provides work experience and the opportunity to achieve a national level qualification to build and develop professional, skilled and capable youth in a wide range of fields.
HDC said the apprenticeship program aims to provide opportunities for young people who have not chosen a specific field to pursue or have not been given the opportunity to pursue in the field they want to pursue.
The training program lasted four months and trained participants in 10 areas. This includes Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle, Welding, Masonry, Gardening, Electrical, Building Maintenance, Carpentry, Plumbing, Construction and Site Supervision.
This is the fifth year of the program under an agreement signed with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Youth Sports and Communities Empowerment.
HDC highlights that these programs are in support of the government’s program to train 3,000 young people.
