An 18-year-old has died while at sea marking snorkeling spots near Maafushivaru Resort.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received reports of an 18-year-old man being rushed to the hospital at around 6:54pm.
He succumbed while receiving treatment at Mahibadhoo Hospital.
MPS revealed that further investigations into his death are currently underway.
The deceased has been identified as Nishaah Abdul Gafoor, native to Inguraidhoo island in Raa atoll.
Nishaah was a scout who save the life of a child who almost drowned in Inguraidhoo, on 18 November 2018.
He was awarded by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for his bravery, in 2019.
