Manhunt issued for suspect wanted in ongoing court case

A manhunt has been issued for a suspect wanted in connection with an ongoing court case.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) publicized the summons on Sunday, noting that the man is being sought for questioning regarding a case submitted at the Criminal Court.

The search was launched after the Criminal Court ordered the police institution to locate the man and take him into police custody prior to presenting him before court.

As such, being located is Jakir Hossein, 24 and native to India.

He is wanted in connection with charges raised by the state on illegally confining individuals.

The Indian national is to be presented to court at 11am on January 16.

With this, the public has been urged to contact the Police Custodial Department through 9991442 if any information is attained on the wanted suspect.
