A peaceful society is necessary for the achievement of sustainable development, and the Maldives Police Service is a key player in this process, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

President Solih made the remarks while speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 34th Police Initial Training Course, on Saturday.

As such, the President in his remarks noted that MPS is part of the society and that the public has high hopes for them. He went on to advise the graduates to work hard to make these hopes a reality.

President Solih stated that the biggest hope, the public has for the police institution is for them to help achieve a peaceful society.

The President went on to note that the highest priority of MPS should always be to sustain the peace in Maldives, while ensuring the human rights and safety of all its citizen. As such, the President advised the newly gradated officers to always keep these in mind, once they start their job. He also advised them to ensure that the trust of the public is not lost.

Additionally, President Solih noted that the administration gives a high priority to develop the services provided by MPS and providing more training opportunities for the officers. President Solih noted that the administration is trying to ensure that the institution has the newest technologies as well.

The President claimed that despite the numerous challenges they consistently confront, the MPS has been doing a fantastic job of providing its services. He noted that the MPS has received recognition from Interpol for their professionalism and work in trying to achieve peace and prosperity.

President Solih stated that the MPS is now taken as a good example by other countries.
