Residents of Nilandhoo Island of Gaaf Alifu Atoll have applauded the administration’s equitable developmental policies.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solihon on Saturday, met with the island community of Nilandhoo, where he shared with them the administration’s developmental plans for the island and inquired about their most pertinent needs.
The meeting was held near the island’s powerhouse.
Speaking with the community members, President Solih highlighted the administration’s policy of consulting with the island communities and seeking their input on the developmental plans that affect them. The community members applauded the administration’s policy of ensuring equitable development, regardless of the size or population of the respective islands.
The community members also shared their most pertinent needs with the President. They included addressing coastal erosion, challenges to utilizing the harbor, and difficulties for the fishing community in acquiring ice. They also highlighted the need to improve education and healthcare services.
President Solih shared the latest updates on the administration’s efforts to address their concerns. He also assured the administration’s commitment to seeking amicable solutions to the issues facing the island’s community.
Nilandhoo Island was the second stop in President Solih’s tour of three islands of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
