Maldives Police Service (MPS) has cracked down on a case of alcohol possession.
MPS revealed that they seized a copious number of alcohol bottles during an operation conducted on Tuesday evening, when two individuals were also arrested.
The operation stemmed from an intel report and was carried out by the Police Intelligence Unit in the congested capital, Malé City.
It was conducted jointly by the intelligence officers and officers of the Drug Enforcement Department (DED).
The two individuals who were inside a car, were stopped and searched on the Sinamalé Bridge and were found in possession of 264 bottles of alcohol.
Arrested in connection with the operation were two, 32-year-old Maldivian men.
The case is currently being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Department.
