Equipment and materials suspected to be used to brew alcohol, have been confiscated from Hithadhoo district of southernmost Addu City.
The alcohol brewing materials were confiscated during an operation conducted by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in their ongoing efforts to curb drug and alcohol trafficking as well as smuggling across the Maldives and crackdown on such networks.
Officers patrolling the island confiscated the materials inside an abandoned house, on Monday.
Among the confiscated items include 15 containers filled with substances suspected to be used in brewing alcohol, as well as the equipment used for it.
The police institution revealed that no arrests have been made in connection with the case so far.
The case is under further investigation at the Hithadhoo Police Station.
