Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a manhunt for an individual wanted to be presented before the court in connection with an ongoing court case.
In a publication on Tuesday, MPS revealed that the man is wanted in connection with a case forwarded to the Gan Magistrate Court in Laamu atoll.
The publication reads that the authority has been instructed by the court to locate the suspect and take him into police custody before presenting him to court, as per a court order.
Being sought as per the court order is Hussain Athif, 28 and native to Gan island in Laamu atoll.
Police is looking for Athif regarding charges of possessing a sharp object in a public place without an adequate reason.
He is to be presented to the Gan Magistrate Court at 12pm on December 7.
With this, the police institution has sought public assistance in locating the man. As such the public has been urged to contact the Police Custodial Department through 9991442 if any information is attained on the suspect.
The authority took the opportunity to express gratitude to the public for the immense help extended in such cases.
