Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has expressed confidence that ties will further enhance between the Maldives and the Dominican Republic, during the new ambassador’s tenure.

He said this on Wednesday, during a courtesy call paid by the newly appointed Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Maldives, David Puig at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Congratulating the new ambassador, FM Shahid expressed confidence that the relations will be further strengthened during his tenure.

The meeting saw FM Shahid engaging in discussions regarding avenues for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of mutual importance such as visa facilitation, and environment and climate change.

Further, FM Shahid and Ambassador Puig went on to offer reassurance of their mutual commitment to enhance cooperation in the multilateral arena.

The meeting was joined by Secretary Bilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed, and Desk Officer Saifulla Waleed.
