3,625 police officers trained in various fields over the past four years
The police institution also revealed that their personnel have also participated in police-related training

National College of Policing and Law Enforcement has conducted 134 different training programmes

Over the past four years, 3,625 police officers had been trained in various fields, says the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

The police institution revealed that the authority has always thrived to make their workforce work-competent and well-trained in the field.

As such, under these efforts, the Institute for Security and Law Enforcement, now National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, has conducted 134 different training programmes over the course of the past four years.

Through these programmes which include courses approved by the Maldives Qualifications Authority as well as skills development courses, a total of 3,625 officers have been trained.

Out of the courses approved by the Maldives Qualifications Authority, 37 police officers were trained in two masters of leadership and management courses.

In addition to this, there are nine courses in diploma in criminal investigation already ongoing, in which 271 police officers are undergoing training.

Through the field of diploma in forensics investigation, 28 officers have been trained with 27 officers currently attaining their diploma in security and risk management.

27 officers are seeking a diploma in law enforcement and administration, with 23 officers attaining a diploma in the policing field.

Further, MPS revealed that 71 officers who participated in three programmes under the university preparation programme, have graduated.

339 police officers are also undergoing training in four certificate-level four courses, with 110 officers undertaking five certificate-level three courses and 191 being trained in police initial training.

MPS went on to reveal that 59 police officers have been trained in two batches under the junior officers’ command course conducted by the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement.

Training had also been conducted for 50 officers in the inspector course, with 278 officers trained in nine batches of the first-line course.

Further, a total of 2,114 police personnel participated and completed 94 short-term programmes.

The police institution also revealed that their personnel have also participated in police-related training, investigation and courses in other fields conducted in several different countries across the globe.
