A man in possession of alcohol has been arrested in the Maldives congested capital, Malé City.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) in a publication on Thursday, revealed that the man was arrested during a drug operation conducted by the MPS Drug Enforcement Department (DED) in Malé City.
The operation was carried out after the police was tipped off by a member of the general public, on November 2.
Arrested in connection with the operation was a 40-year-old Maldivian man.
Officers found 64 bottles of alcohol inside boxes the man was carrying at the time of his arrest.
MPS revealed that further investigations are currently underway by the DED.
