Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) is carrying out various activities in celebration of the World Investor Week (WIW).
CMDA is the investor regulator in Maldives. They will be conducting activities in celebration of the World Investor Week from 03 October, 2022 to 09 October, 2022.
The opening ceremony of the WIW activities in Maldives was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Officer of CMDA, Mohamed Hussain Maniku. His speech was focused on the importance of investor protection, specifically the retail investors as well as the institutional investors.
CMDA states that this year’s activities are conducted in partnership with financial institutions in Maldives. They are Maldives Monetary Authority, Maldives Pension Administration Office, Maldives Stock Exchange, SME Development Finance Corporation, Maldives Islamic Bank, Bank of Maldives and Allied Insurance Company.
Some of the activities planned for the week are a week-long capital market quiz through social media for general public, financial literacy program for college/university students and a program for journalists and editors about the disciplines of media reporting of financial developments in the country.
World Investor Week is a week-long campaign promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to raise awareness about the importance of investor education and protection.
