The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has reiterated the country's commitment to strengthen bilateral ties with China.
Minister Shahid made the remarks in his message of felicitations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi, on the occasion of the 73rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.
In his message, the Maldivian Minister highlighted that Maldives and China have enjoyed being close friends and partners in development. The Minister stated that Maldives and China have enjoyed strong bilateral ties over the years, based on the firm commitment by Maldives to One China Principle.
Highlighting that Maldives and China are celebrating 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between both the countries, the Minister expressed hope that the cordial and close ties that exist between the two nations would strengthen in the years to come.
The Minister went on to reaffirm the commitment of Maldives to deepen bilateral ties with China and to continue to work closely together on international matters of mutual concern.
Minister Shahid in his message of felicitations noted that he looks forward to work closely with the Chinese Foreign Minister towards further consolidating the growing relations.
In his message, Minister Shahid expressed heartfelt congratulations and warm felicitations to the Foreign Minister, the Government, and the friendly people of China on the occasion of the 73rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China.
He extended his best wishes for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of China.
Expressing hope that the close relations of friendship between the two countries will continue to flourish in the years to come, Minister Shahid concluded his message by extending assurances of his highest consideration.
