President pledges to address concerns facing H.Dh Finey community

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to find ways through which the government can address the concerns and issues facing the community of Finey island in Haa Dhaal atoll.

As such, as part of his ongoing four-island tour of Haa Dhaal and Haa Alif atoll, President Solih met with the members of Finey island council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Monday.

During the meeting held at the Finey council secretariat, council and WDC members acknowledged that the administration has completed three major development projects in the island.

They also noted that the island residents have trust and faith in the incumbent administration, adding that there are multiple projects currently underway in the island.

Briefing the president on their most pertinent needs, the councilors stressed on the need for harbor expansion, restoring the old school building, the need for sports equipment and infrastructure as well as the challenges faced due to a lack of a community center on the island.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration will find ways to address their concerns and briefed the members on the progress being made to build the multipurpose hall at the school, which is currently in the bidding phase.

Including the provision of water supply, the installation of a water and sanitation network, the construction of the new powerhouse and office building and commissioning of a new electricity network on the island, the incumbent administration has completed several significant development initiatives in the island.

The Raajje Transport Link’s (RTL) ferries are also being operated in the island.

President Solih will be visiting Utheem Island in Haa Alifu Atoll next.

He is accompanied by cabinet ministers and senior government officials on the tour.
