Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members of Naivaadhoo Island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll have expressed joy over the numerous developmental initiatives of the current administration.
The council members and WDC members expressed their appreciation during the meeting held with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday.
The meeting was held at the Naivaadhaoo Pre-School’s hall.
The meeting saw members of the island council and WDC highlighting that President Solih was the first President to visit the island in 13 years and expressed gratitude for the developmental initiatives on the island. The members also emphasized the importance of expediting some of the ongoing projects.
Discussion at the meeting focused on beach erosion; upgrading the Council Secretariat; developing a sports facility for the island's youth population; and expediting the work on the sewerage system and the school hall development projects.
Noting that the Local Government Authority (LGA) oversees the construction of the council offices, President Solih assured that discussions would be held with LGA to include H.Dh. Naivaadhoo on its priority list.
President Solih further said that discussions would be held with relevant authorities to address the issues and concerns raised by the members at the meeting.
Following the meeting, the President toured the Council Secretariat office.
This administration has carried out four developmental projects on the island thus far. They are three projects that are currently ongoing, including the development of the sewerage system.
Naivaadhoo was the first stop on the President’s three-day official visits to Haa Dhaalu and Haa Alifu atolls. The President is accompanied by some cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
