The National Farmers' Day and World Food Day are to be celebrated officially in Kaashidhoo island of Kaafu atoll this year.
This was announced by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday.
The decision to officially host receptions for the National Farmers’ Day and World Food Day in Kaashidhoo this year, came following recommendations from the Cabinet of Ministers.
As such, the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday saw deliberations held on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.
The National Farmers’ Day was declared October 15, in 2020.
October 16 is celebrated worldwide as World Food Day.
Farmers' Day is commemorated to recognize the hard work of farmers and increase public interest in agriculture.
The main purpose of nationally commemorating National Farmer's Day is to recognize the efforts and contributions of farmers, to ensuring food security.
The day further aims to promote the farming vocation while also connecting the day to World Food Day, allowing farmers to showcase their products and plan events in conjunction with the days.
