The members of Addu City council have discussed social issues facing the community, with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The president met with the councilors of the southernmost city at the President’s Office, on Monday.
The meeting saw discussions held regarding the ongoing development projects as well as the needs of the city residents.
Addu councilors noted that Addu remains one of the islands where the most development initiatives have been launched by the incumbent administration.
With this, the councilors extended gratitude to President Solih for the close attention accorded to the development needs and other social issues facing the city community.
Further, the councilors shared their concerns and discussed means through which the budget constraints, housing needs, infrastructure development projects and other social issues may be addressed.
Listening to their concerns, the president assured the councilors that discussions will be initiated with relevant authorities, to address the issues at hand.
He went on to assure the council that his administration will work with relevant bodies and authorities to address the challenges, following the amendment to the Decentralization Act.
The meeting was also attended by parliamentarians representing the southernmost city.
