According to the most recent statistical statistics, the Maldives is expected to welcome its one millionth visitor this year on 12th August, despite the difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and recent geopolitical events.
Speaking on this significant accomplishment, Thoyyib Mohamed, CEO & MD of MMPRC, praised everyone involved for making this achievement possible despite the many obstacles they overcame as a result of global crises. His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, stated earlier this year that the country hopes to welcome 1.6 million tourists in 2022.
India is the biggest source market for travelers to the Maldives this year, according to arrivals as of July 31st 2022, with 136,828 travelers.
In 22 different countries last year, MMPRC conducted 260 various marketing events, such as roadshows, familiarization tours, marketing campaigns, webinars, and interviews. The Maldives earning the title of "World's Leading Destination" in late 2017 is the clearest indication of how successful these endeavors have been.
The Maldives have successfully attained this coveted distinction for the second year in a row, which is a brilliant example of the confidence that tourists from all over the world have in the "magic of Maldivian hospitality."
