Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the RTL mini bus operations in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Laamu Atoll.

The first shipment of the mini buses ordered by the company was brought to Maldives on July 16. The first shipment consisted of 36 mini buses out of the 41 buses ordered. The remaining five buses were brought to Maldives on July 18.

While MTCC has disclosed that 12 out of the 41 mini buses will be operating in the Male' City, the rest was distributed among Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Laamu Atoll.

MTCC will be eight buses in four routes of Addu City Hithadhoo and Feydhoo, and four buses will be operating in four routes of Addu City Hulhumeedhoo.

Five buses will be operated in three routes of Fuvahmulah City.

While two buses are to be operated in one route of L. Isdhoo and L. Kalaidhoo, five buses will be operated in four routes in Gan island and Fonadhoo island of the atoll.

The mini bus operations comes under the Raajje Transport Link services introduced by the government to improve the transportation services of the country. Under RTL, MTCC will be providing ferry services and bus services in the country.

Even though MTCC commenced the operation of mini buses in the atoll, the company highlights that the company will be doing runs to familiarize with routes and will be giving customers the opportunity to get the bus service for free until, August 14, 2022.

Additionally, the bus service will always be free for children under the age of three, students, people special needs and people above the age of 65.

MTCC states that customers will be able to view the RTL bus schedule via the company's website. Additionally, customers can also use the company's hotline 1650 to inquire about the services.

MTCC highlights that the company's aim as the largest transportation service provider of the country is to provide the customers with the latest and easily accessible services.
