The Maldivian government expenditure has reached MVR 19.9 billion so far this year.
Statistics revealed by the Ministry of Finance shows that the expenditure for the same period last year, was MVR 18.2 billion.
Finance Ministry's statistics show that the state spent MVR 13.5 billion as recurrent expenditure. These include MVR 5.5 billion spent on salaries, wages and pension of staff, as well as the MVR 8 billion spent on administrative and operational expenses.
The government has so far spent MVR 4.3 billion as capital expenditure. As such, MVR 180.2 million was spent on capital equipment and MVR 2.8 billion was spent on infrastructure assets. While MVR 1 billion was spent on development projects and investment outlays, it is recorded that the state spent MVR 318 million as domestic lending.
Moreover, statistics show that the government has spent MVR 2 billion for loan repayment.
So far this year, MVR 383.7 million was transferred to the Sovereign Development Fund and MVR 2.9 billion was spent on public sector investment programs.
Statistics shows that the most was spent on water and sewerage development projects. As such a total of MVR 521.2 million was spent thus, this year.
These include MVR 398.4 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 27.1 million spent on sewerage system installation and MVR 95.7 million spent on water systems.
Ministry's statistics goes onto reveal that MVR 298.9 million was spent on housing and infrastructure projects, MVR 160.7 million on land reclamation, MVR 258.8 million on road construction and MVR 457.3 million on harbor development projects.
Additionally, the government has spent MVR 290.9 million on bridge development projects and MVR 37.2 million on airport development projects.
The government has so far spent; MVR 20.8 million on national security and public order, MVR 94.8 million on development of health services and MVR 184.2 million on education sector.
Additionally, statistics shows that the state has spent MVR 358.4 million on environmental protection projects. As such, MVR 120.3 million was spent on waste management, MVR 169.4 million was spent on coastal protection, and MVR 59.6 million was spent on renewable energy. The state has also spent MVR 9.1 on water drainage systems.
So far this year, the state has spent MVR 13.6 million on fisheries and agriculture sector.
Ministry of Finance revealed that the state has received MVR 13.1 billion as revenue, so far this year.
