A tourist has been found dead inside a guesthouse in Guraidhoo island of Kaafu atoll.
President of Guraidhoo Island Council, Hussain Yameen Mohamed told RaajjeMV that the body of the tourist was found inside “Ocean Retreat and Spa” at around 06:30pm on Friday.
The body had already begun decomposing when it was discovered, according to the president of the island council.
Yameen went on to reveal that the tourist was identified as a 56-year-old American native, a woman.
She was on vacation in Guraidhoo island, and is believed to have died on Thursday. She is also reported to have consulted a doctor, after not feeling well.
As such, she is reported to have informed the reception of the guesthouse she was staying in, that she was feeling unwell and not to disturb her.
And she also used the “do not disturb” tag on her room door as well.
The body has since been brought to the capital city, Malé,
