President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the administration would accord priority to alleviating the challenges faced in utilizing the harbor of Noomaraa Island in the North Miladhummadulhu Atoll.

The President met with the council members and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) representatives of Noomaraa Island on Thursday, at the President’s Office.

During the meeting, President Solih assured the council members and WDC representatives of Noomaraa, that the administration would seek ways to address the concerns raised by them.

Additionally, President briefed the representatives on the latest updates on the developmental projects currently underway and planned for the island. As such, the President and the council members spoke extensively about the administration’s developmental goals for the island and its residents.

The council members shared the island’s most pressing concerns with the President, including difficulties faced in using the harbor. They shared concerns over the coastal erosion problem faced by the island and the need for a new mosque.

The council members also disclosed space constraints and the lack of adequate resources in the island school and health center. Concerns about waste management issues of the island were also discussed at the meeting.

Moreover, the members also expressed gratitude to President Solih and his administration for addressing the health center's issues, including constructing an extension building and developing a new classroom block in the school.

The council members also acknowledged the administration’s commencement of a project to construct a new building for the council secretariat which was signed on Thursday.

The President of the WDC shared with President Solih the challenges they face in discharging their duties.

President Solih has been holding meetings with island council members and WDC representatives of different islands to listen and discuss the concerns raised by them and the island community.
