Dredging operations for the new harbor basin as part of the harbor development project in Muraidhoo island of Haa Alif atoll, are currently ongoing.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the new harbor basin dredging operations are progressing with 75 percent completion by June 1.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to construct a quay wall measuring 212 meters, a breakwater stretching up to 407 meters as well as a 105-meter revetment.

Further, repairing work for 107-meters of breakwater is also included in the scope of the project, alongside building a 50-meter groyne, dredging operations of harbor and channel and the construction of a ramp and walkway bridge.

MTCC will also be installing navigation lights and harbor lights under the project.

The project is valued at MVR 33.7 million.
