Dredging of ADh. Mandhoo harbor's new entrance channel nears completion

The channel dredging operation for the new entrance as part of the design and build of Mandhoo island’s harbor development project, is nearing completion.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the design and build of the harbor in Mandhoo island in Alif Dhaal atoll is well underway.

They went on to reveal that the new entrance channel dredging operations are 89 percent completed.

MTCC is required to dredge and excavate 65,854 cubic meters, construct a quay wall measuring 236 meters, a breakwater measuring 319 meters and a 71-meter revetment under the scope of the project.

The project also includes the construction of a 50-meter groyne, installation of harbor streetlights and navigational aids.

Further, a 1,180 square-meter pavement will also be constructed under the scope of the project.

The project is valued at MVR 34.1 million and was contracted to the company on 10 December 2019.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC, to be completed within 330 days.
