Yooshau Saeed has been reappointed as the Chairperson of the Bank of Maldives.
The country’s national bank made the announcement on Monday, revealing that Saeed has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors, after having initially been appointed as Chairperson following the Bank’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in July 2021.
The bank’s decision came after this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Hotel Jen on Sunday, where all members of the Board of Directors were reappointed.
The Directors nominated by the government and appointed to the board are:
- Yooshau Saeed, H. Sandy Beach, K. Male’
- Timothy Sawyer (Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director)
- Aishath Noordeen, M. Thaangeedhoshuge, K. Male’
- Juwairiya Saeed, Ma. Kosheege, K. Male’
- Abdulla Hassan, Naseemaa Manzil, R. Alifushi
- Abdulla Husam Shareef, Dhiguvaandu, Savaa, Gn. Fuvahmulah
- Mohamed Sharah, Kothange, GDh. Fiyoaree
- Aishath Sajny, Tharividhaage, S. Hithadhoo
Further, public shareholders of the country’s national bank also elected three directors, including Ibrahim Mohamed, native to Holhudhoo island in Noonu atoll, Ahmed Mohamed, native to Malé City and Abdulla Naseem, native to Filladhoo island in Haa Alif atoll.
The new BML Chair was serving as the General Manager of SIMDI Pvt Ltd and served at multiple leadership roles in the past, including Chairperson of Thilafushi Corporation Ltd.
Other position he held include National Project Manager to the National Capacity Self-Assessment (NCSA) Project of Energy and Water and the Corporate Affairs and Finance Manager at Maldives National Shipping Ltd.
He also served in various positions at the Audit Office of the Maldives for a decade.
Yooshau was a Board Member of SME Development Finance Corporate (SDFC) for over two years, prior to his recent appointment.
