The search for the man who went missing while diving off the coast of Fuvahmulah City, continues.
Providing the latest information on the missing person, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) revealed that the search operation continues and that their efforts have been to no avail so far. The missing person has been identified as Fuvahmulah City native, Mohamed Saeed, age 35.
MNDF has searched an area of 55 square nautical miles utilizing two harbor crafts, so far in the operation.
The two harbor crafts are still in action, alongside an MNDF Dornier aircraft.
The authority went on to reveal that Saeed went diving at around 02:30pm on Monday, wearing a black diving suit, with matching fins and a mask.
Another person who went diving with Saeed was rescued not long after the search operation was launched. He has been reported in critical condition since and was transported to Kandima Resort in Dhaalu atoll some time on Monday night, where he will be receiving treatment inside an oxygen chamber.
As the search operation continues, MNDF has sought assistance from vessels operating in the region.
Divers from Fuvahmulah City are also currently active in the search for Saeed.
The missing persons’ report was received by authorities at around 03:45pm on Monday.
Saeed is a trained diving instructor who was working at a guesthouse in Fuvahmulah City.
