Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Abdulla Shahid has extended wishes on the joyous occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr.
In a video message to the people, the foreign minister extended his best wishes to all Muslims celebrating across the world, on the occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr marking the end of the month of Ramadan.
Highlighting that the fasting month of Ramadan is essentially a thanksgiving for the almighty, for the sustenance he has showered for all life on the planet, FM Shahid stated that fasting during the holy period is an act of compassion and a time for spiritual reflection and nourishment for the soul.
He described it to be a period for practicing the virtues of temperance, patience and perseverance.
With the end of the fasting month, FM Shahid urged the people to continue being grateful for their blessings, continue to be kinder more compassionate and more charitable in their thoughts and actions, and continue to help the less fortunate.
The PGA also stated that Eid-Al-Fitr is an occasion for joy, unity and celebration for Muslims and urged to acknowledge the numerous challenges troubling the globe, from climate change, to conflict, to poverty as the festivities of Eid are carried out.
With this, he prayed for the values of humanity, kindness and peace, that are central to Islam, to continue to guide the path as the people endeavor to resolve these issues.
