Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has stated that the Russian Airline, Aeroflot will resume it's flights to Maldives in May.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, MACL stated that the Aeroflot Airline will resume its flights to Maldives from May 14th, onwards. As such, flights have already been scheduled for May 14th, states MACL.
The Russian Airlines halted its flights to Maldives due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. With countries all over the world implementing sanctions against Russia, the airline acted to halt some of their international flights.
However, Maldives so far has not announced any sanctions against Russia.
Before the sudden halt in Russian flights to Maldives, Russa was the top source market of Maldives' tourism. Even though UK is the top source market of Maldives as of the latest statistics published, Russia is still among the top ten markets.
With the Russian Airline resuming it's flights to Maldives again, the number of tourist arrivals are expected to soar once again .
