Current development projects are the largest in Addu City's history: Addu City Council

Councilors briefed the President on the latest updates and concerns regarding the ongoing projects in the city

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sat with the councilors and WDC members of Addu City during his current tour of the Southern most cities of Maldives

Addu City councilors have noted that the development projects currently underway in the City are the largest in the City's history.

The councilors noted that this during the meeting President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih held with the members of Addu City Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC), on Saturday evening.

President met with the councilors and WDC members of Addu City during his current tour of the Southern most cities of Maldives. During this meeting, discussions were held on issues concerning the progress of the city.

Addu City councilors briefed the President on the latest updates and concerns regarding the ongoing projects in the city. As such, the councilors raised concerns regarding the housing difficulties in the city as well as concerns regarding the services of Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH).

The councilors also noted that they would like an increase in the budget allocated to the Addu City Council.

Other concerns raised by the councilors include the youth-centered development needs. They highlighted that the lights at Addu Zone Stadium needs fixing and that the city is in need of improved man resource capacity in this area.

The councilors also put forward their requirements for tourism development in the city.

The Addu City WDC expressed gratitude towards the government for its efforts to empower women.

President Solih expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he received upon his arrival in the city , and assured that the opinion of the council and the public would be taken into account in formulating the development programmes. He stated that the issues relayed by the council would be addressed and deliberated with the relevant government institutions and bodies.

The President and members of his delegation briefed the councilors and the WDC on the latest updates of the developmental projects that are currently underway in the city.
