The first session of the information series titled “Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth in Maldives”, has been launched.
The inauguration ceremony was held by the Economic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives on Tuesday.
The session, held virtually, is aimed for High Commissioners and Ambassadors accredited to Maldives, as well as for resident missions in Maldives.
The session will be a platform to fathom the ongoing economic situation and investment priorities of the Maldives which will in turn enable further collaboration for Maldives and its bilateral partners.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel delivered the opening remarks at the session, during which he shed light on the priorities of the government and provided an update on the economic progress the Maldives has achieved since the Covid-19 pandemic.
State Minister Khaleel went on to express his appreciation for the generous assistance and support from the bilateral and multilateral partners especially during the economic crisis due to Covid-19.
The information session is being held in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the Housing Development Cooperation (HDC).
Another session will be held as part of the series, on February 22.
The first session held on Tuesday welcomed over 80 participants including 37 ambassadors and high commissioners accredited to the Maldives and other United Nations representatives accredited to the Maldives.
