Vice President Faisal Naseem has held discussions on development plans with the members of the Faafu Atoll Council as well as the island council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Nilandhoo Island in Faafu Atoll.
This was done during a meeting held at the Secretariat of the Faafu Atoll Council as part of his recent two-day visit to three islands of Faafu and Alif Dhaal atolls.
The discussions revolved around a wide array of topics including challenges facing Magoodhoo Island due to space constraints in the harbor, coastal erosion in Dharan'boodhoo Island and the state of roads in Nilandhoo Island as well as difficulties faced by patients of the atoll hospital and financial constraints facing the council.
Nilandhoo Island Council spoke to VP Naseem regarding expediting the water and sewerage network project and went on to share their financial constraints and issues related to the island harbor, the state of the mosque and scarcity of land.
WDC members also shared their issues and discussed ways through which the government can address their financial constraints.
VP Naseem assured the members that the government will take the required measures to address these concerns and seek amicable solutions through the relevant authorities.
VP Naseem also toured and assessed the situation at Faafu Atoll Hospital during his visit, and visited the Faafu Atoll Education Centre and met with the management and staff as well.
