54 additional Covid-19 cases have been confirmed from Kulhudhuffushi City.
The Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital revealed that 54 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed in the northern city on Tuesday, with 10 additional recoveries also reported.
Among the new infections include eight persons who consulted the flu clinic after exhibiting symptoms, 33 persons identified through contact tracing as well as 13 cases through random sampling.
With this development, the total number of active Covid-19 cases across the city have risen to 192.
Three islands in Haa Dhaal atoll are currently under monitoring; Hanimaadhoo, Nolhivaranfaru and Nellaidhoo. 10 islands have confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks.
The hospital revealed that although cases have been spiraling of recent, complications and severities have not been reported from patients so far.
However, public health authorities continue to urge the public to practice caution as a majority of samples collected nationwide are testing positive to the virus.
This comes at a time the Maldives is immersed in an outbreak of the more transmissible variant of Covid-19; Omicron.
