Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been tasked with the development of the harbor in Maakurathu island in Raa atoll.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to the company, for which the signing ceremony was held at the ministry on Thursday.

The contract was signed by Chief Executive Officer of MTCC Adam Azim and Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed.

The signing ceremony was joined by the parliamentarian for Ungoofaaru constituency, MP Mohamed Waheed.

Under the project, MTCC will be reclaiming 45,023.84 cubic meters, installing a breakwater of 140 meters, groyne measuring 28 meters and revetment measuring 85 meters. Further, an inner quay wall measuring 129 meters will be installed with a pavement measuring 641 square meters.

The project is valued at MVR 26.67 million and MTCC is contracted to complete the project within 350 days.
