Monitoring measures enforced in Addu City due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have been dissolved.

The southernmost city was brought under monitoring following a worsening Covid-19 situation, on August 28 this year.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), monitoring measures were dissolved as there was no longer a reason to enforce the measures. The measures were effective across Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Feydhoo and Hulhumeedhoo.

Following this, several eases have been brought to the other measures in place, including the curfew that had been effective from 9pm to 4am every day.

Between 6pm Wednesday and 6pm Thursday, 123 samples were tested for the virus across the city, of which four returned positive for the infection.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases confirmed in Addu have risen to 2,977 with recoveries sitting at 2,921.

There are 44 active cases across the city currently, with four patients receiving in-hospital treatment.

The death toll recorded in the city sit at 12.

In a bid to control the spread of Covid-19 in Addu, safety measures were tightened in the southernmost city during November.
