The councilors of Inguraidhoo island in Raa atoll have shared the development needs and pertinent issues facing the island community, with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

A meeting was held between the councilors and President Solih on Thursday, where discussions touched down on ongoing development projects in the island.

Noting that funds have been allocated for multiple major development requests in next year’s budget, the council members briefed the president on issues revolving around road development, difficulties due to the harbor and adjacent channel as well as challenges to proper waste management.

Councilors went on to express difficulties caused by the lack of staff and space constraints at the Island Council Secretariat and shed light on similar issues in the school and health center

In addition, they went on to explore the prospects of developing an airport in the region, a new mosque as well as other projects that will be socially beneficial.

The meeting saw President Solih sharing the latest updates regarding development inquiries made by the councilors and assuring them to work collaboratively with relevant authorities to find solutions to the issues and concerns of the residents.

The president also expressed confidence in seeking agreeable solutions to the challenges and difficulties facing the island residents.
