Another Maldivian has succumbed to complications of Covid-19.
After sundown on Thursday, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) took to Twitter to announce the death of a male Covid-19 patient.
According to the public health authority, the man, aged 81, was brought to Addu Covid Management Facility and declared dead by doctors at around 1:33am early Thursday.
This has pushed the Maldives Covid-19 death toll to 247, and the number of Covid-19 fatalities reported so far in November to four.
This comes a day after the last Covid-19 victim, an 84-year-old local man, was reported on Tuesday morning. He died while receiving treatment at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility.
Of the 247 deaths linked to coronavirus reported in the Maldives so far, 197 have been reported so far this year.
The island nation reported the highest number of deaths in a single month since the pandemic began, during May 2021, when a total of 88 deaths were confirmed. 50 deaths were confirmed in June while 10 deaths were reported in July. In August, five Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus, September also saw five Covid-19 fatalities. 12 Covid-19 fatalities were reported in October.
Maldives reported its first Covid-19 fatality in April 2020.
