Maldives Covid-19 death toll has been pushed to 246.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) identified the latest Covid-19 victim as an 84-year-old local man.
The Covid-19 victim was receiving treatment at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility before being declared dead by doctors at 11:55am on Tuesday.
This is the third Covid-19 fatality confirmed so far in November.
This comes less than a week after HPA reported the 245th Covid-19 victim, an 87-year-old Maldivian woman being treated in Addu City.
Of the 246 deaths linked to coronavirus reported in the Maldives so far, 196 have been reported so far this year.
The island nation reported the highest number of deaths in a single month since the pandemic began, during May 2021, when a total of 88 deaths were confirmed. 50 deaths were confirmed in June while 10 deaths were reported in July. In August, five Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus, September also saw five Covid-19 fatalities. 12 Covid-19 fatalities were reported in October.
Maldives reported its first Covid-19 fatality in April 2020.
