It is important to instill the true Islamic faith in the hearts of children, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

In his address on the anniversary of the day Maldives embraced Islam, the Maldivian president urged citizens nationwide to pay special heed to instill the “true Islamic” faith in the hearts of children.

With this being said, President Solih noted that the key to raising a good generation is raising children who have strong Islamic principles.

Highlighting that the Maldivian nationality is built on the faith of Islam, President Solih urged every single citizen to preserve the bounties of the Islamic faith.

With this being said, the president touched down on the most significant issues facing Maldivian currently, in terms of disseminating views that are not related to the Islamic faith, which some groups claim they are.

As such, he noted that only a few people believe in these views that provoke conflict and in turn inflict damage to the properties and lives of people. These conflicting view provoke violent attacks. The president has said this at a time Maldives is observing rebellious and violent terrorist attacks, including the one on Former President and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed on May 6, for which the investigation is currently ongoing.

Further, the president in his address, urged teachers and parents to educate their children with the genuine values of Islam and principles, with the aim to avoid the spread of incorrect beliefs in the name of Islam.

President Solih urged the Maldivian citizens to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) by securing the lives of people, as well as their belongings, alongside respecting one another, eradicating jealousy and envy as well as practicing the nature of forgiveness.

Every year, Maldives marks the day the nation embraced Islam on the 2nd of Rabi’ al-Akhir on the Islamic Calendar.
