President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his visit to join the National Youth Day celebrations in Kulhudhuffushi City.
The president, joined by a delegation of cabinet ministers and senior government officials, returned to the capital on Sunday morning.
President Solih officially inaugurated the new football field in Kulhudhuffushi City, following which he observed a friendly match between the Maldives National Football Team and a Kulhudhuffushi Football Team, which ended in a 6 – 0 score.
During his brief visit, the president took part in the official ceremony held to commemorate National Youth Day as the guest of honor, on Saturday night.
He also conferred Youth Awards 2021 to 10 recipients at the National Youth Day reception.
He then attended a music show hosted to mark the occasion.
October 22 was declared as National Youth Day, during 2019. The decision stemmed from recommendations from President Solih’s Cabinet of Ministers who highlighted that the day was significant as the act enabling voting rights for Maldivians above 18 years of age, was passed.
