President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is to join the National Youth Day celebrations in Kulhudhuffushi City.

The president departed on the trip to Kulhudhuffushi City in Haa Dhaal atoll on Saturday afternoon.

Solih will take part in the official ceremony held to commemorate National Youth Day as the guest of honor.

During his visit, President Solih will also be officially inaugurating the new football field in Kulhudhuffushi City, following which he will observe a friendly match between the Maldives National Football Team and a Kulhudhuffushi Football Team.

October 22 was declared as National Youth Day, during 2019. The decision stemmed from recommendations from President Solih’s Cabinet of Ministers who highlighted that the day was significant as the act enabling voting rights for Maldivians above 18 years of age, was passed.

A delegation of cabinet ministers and senior government officials join the president during the trip.
