Rear Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem.
During the call at the President’s Office on Wednesday, the pair engaged in discussions revolving around avenues of further cooperation and enhancing bilateral ties between the two nations.
VP Naseem highlighted that Bangladesh is a “valuable” development partner of Maldives and expressed gratitude to the government for contributions made on human resource development, especially in the fields of technical and vocational training.
Stressing that Maldives still faces shortage of doctors and medical professionals, VP Naseem further thanked the government of Bangladesh for extending much needed support to the students of Maldives stranded in Bangladesh, when travel restrictions were imposed against the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The Bangladeshi High Commissioner noted that a majority of migrant workforce in the Maldives are Bangladeshi, going on to share details of their issues and concerns with the Maldivian Vice President.
The pair then discussed ways to resolve said issues.
Maldives and Bangladesh mark 43 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, this year.
